THE GREEN SCENE Is Taking A Break...

You might have noticed it's been a bit quiet on the blog recently, but behind the scenes lots of exciting things have been happening (including the opportunity of my dream job working in sustainable fashion full-time!), which has meant that after more than two years and over 100 posts I've decided to take a long-term break from writing.

When I first started THE GREEN SCENE in April 2015, I'd been working in fashion for around a year and had only recently become aware of the horrendous negative impacts that the industry was having on the planet, as well as all the people connected with its supply chain. As I learnt more about other alternatives to fast fashion and the brands making an effort to do things properly, I wanted to use the blog both as a platform to raise awareness and as an outlet for all the knowledge I was steadily gaining in terms of more conscious production and consumption.

Now, two years down the line, I couldn't have imagined how the slow fashion community would grow in numbers and in voice, reaching more and more of the general public as well as brands and the press - Fashion Revolution's continuing work, the Paris climate agreement and Marie Claire's latest issue devoted to sustainability are just three examples that prove things are changing, although obviously there's a very long way to go.

I'm so happy to now have moved into this field full-time, and personally, I feel that I can add more value on a professional level than I ever could have as a blogger, as there's so many amazing writers and influencers doing a great job already all over the world. For me, it's time to take a step back and focus fully on the important work behind the scenes that not everyone always sees - spreading the message, engaging top management and of course actually practically actioning change across the business, which takes an immense amount of time and effort.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who was a fan of the blog, read my guest posts for Oxfam Fashion and MOCHNI or followed my social media channels over the years - I'll be staying active on Twitter, so won't be disappearing entirely, but my Instagram and Pinterest will be on pause for the time being.

Let's keep working together towards a positive change in the fashion industry!

Love and best wishes
