Review: The Green Market Berlin

Happy Easter! It's a beautiful weekend here, and one that I'll be spending mostly with my boyfriend in between seeing family and friends, as we get ready to finally move into our new apartment. I can't wait to show off the results of all our hard work soon, but first I wanted to share the fun I had at last Sunday's Green Market Berlin, a "vegan lifestyle market" set right in the middle of the RAW Gelände, a repurposed industrial estate which is now full of clubs, bars, and even a swimming pool!

It was the first time I'd been to the market, and I certainly wasn't expecting it to be so big - two huge halls filled to the brim with handmade products, art, sustainable fashion and vegan treats, separated by an outdoor eating area with a range of food trucks selling everything from vegan steaks, Indian dosa and "Vöner", or vegan döner, a type of kebab. I'm not vegan myself (having a nut allergy makes this a bit tricky!) but I really enjoyed my tempeh burger, and gathering lots of inspiration for things I can try out at home.

The focus of the market was definitely on food rather than fashion, although there were a few stands selling handmade clothing and accessories as well as established brands such as Matt & Nat. I also picked up a couple of vintage maps from a brilliant little stall specialising in prints of flowers and vegetables from old books, which would add a beautifully unique touch to a kitchen or dining room. Despite the rain, the market was the perfect place for a lazy Sunday and I'm already looking forward to the Summer edition, when I can make the most of all the great vegan ice cream on offer!

You can find out more about the market here, including the location and dates for the next editions.
