The Best Ethical Activewear at the Om Yogashow

Last weekend I visited the Om Yoga Show at London’s Alexandra Palace, which hosted a range of exhibitors, free workshops and paid-for classes, all with the common theme of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. Although I had expected to see a variety of yoga clothing brands in amongst the rest of the stands, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the vast majority were promoting some kind of ethical values, either through transparent supply chains, by supporting charities, or by using materials such as recycled polyester and organic cotton. So if you’re looking for fashionable activewear that’s both kind to the planet and people, read on for my pick of the best below!

Dharma Bums
The Australian brand has a great mix of fashion-forward prints and clean, easy basics, all produced onshore in Australia to ensure “transparency on work ethics and quality at all times, made by people that are respected and cared for”. The Summer 2015 collection features flirty florals and celestial prints as well as geometric patterns and Aztec designs, so there is something for every personality. My favourites are the Glass Reflection Legging, $90, or the Relaxed Twisted Back Tee, $60, below.

Tiger Lilly
Based in London, Tiger Lilly’s range of “vibrant, colourful and distinctive” leggings don’t only look amazing, but are produced from recycled plastic bottles and use eco-friendly printing processes that produce zero waste. The collection features long sleeve tops, reversible bras and crop tops in addition to leggings, and the special fabrics are just as comfortable if you're doing easy stretching or hot power yoga.

Moonchild Yoga Wear
This Danish brand is inspired by “the colours and lights of Scandinavian nature blended with feminine minimalism”. All the products are designed in Denmark and made in the EU using certified environmentally friendly Italian fabrics, and the company is committed to making responsible and mindful decisions at every stage of the manufacturing process. UK customers can find beautiful styles such as the New Elements leggings (£62, below), on

Are there any other organic or ethical activewear brands that you'd recommend?
